Aviloo battery health reports are becoming the gold standard for used EV purchases in Canada. But what exactly do they measure, and how should you interpret the results when shopping for a pre-owned electric vehicle?
What is Aviloo?
Aviloo is an Austrian company that developed a standardized battery testing protocol for electric vehicles. Their FLASH test connects to the vehicle's OBD-II port and measures actual battery capacity versus original factory capacity - giving you a precise State of Health (SOH) percentage.
Understanding State of Health (SOH)
SOH is expressed as a percentage of original battery capacity. A 95% SOH means the battery retains 95% of its original range. Industry benchmarks: 90%+ is excellent, 80-89% is good, 70-79% is fair. Below 70% may indicate significant degradation.
What Aviloo Tests Measure
The Aviloo FLASH test measures usable battery capacity, charge acceptance rate, cell balance and uniformity, and thermal management performance. It takes approximately 45 minutes and produces a certified report with a unique QR code for verification.
How to Read an Aviloo Report
The report shows the SOH percentage prominently, along with a colour-coded rating (green/yellow/red). It also shows the test date, vehicle VIN, odometer reading, and the certified tester's credentials. Always verify the VIN matches the vehicle you are purchasing.
Why Planet Motors Uses Aviloo
Every EV in our inventory receives an Aviloo FLASH test before listing. We include the full report with each vehicle so buyers can make informed decisions. This transparency is part of our commitment to honest, no-surprise car buying. If a battery does not meet our standards, we do not sell the vehicle.
Questions to Ask About Any EV Battery
Always ask: What is the current SOH? Has the battery ever been replaced? Is there a remaining manufacturer battery warranty? Has the vehicle been charged to 100% regularly (which accelerates degradation)? At Planet Motors, we answer all of these questions upfront - no surprises.
